Elections

Normally, I have my posts put together a few days before I want to publish them. It saves me from scrambling around at my desk every morning trying to come up with something to talk about.

However, after seeing some of the shit being flung around this morning regarding yesterday's elections, I decided I had some things to say...

One of the first things I saw was Donald Trump's Twitter Tirade:

Wow. Really? In all seriousness, how big a difference is it going to make in your life regardless of who wins? Trump may have to pay more taxes, but I think he can spare the dime. He's still got more money than half the American populace combined.

It's shit like this that makes the rest of the world laugh at Americans. It is assumed that American = Asshat.

On Facebook, an ACTUAL friend of mine (as opposed to people who are related or I'm simply familiar with) posted this:

To those in this country who contribute and serve, thank you. To the rest of you, congratulations.

WHAT?
So, if I'm reading this correctly, anyone who voted for the winner does not serve or contribute to the good of the country?
Shit.

That means that the almost 60 million people who voted to re-elect their current president are what?
Lollygagging?
Fiddling?
Napping?

I liked this:

The election is over, people. Quit being passive-aggressive and shitty. Someone won, someone lost, and in the end, it won't make that much difference.

Someone replied:
You must not be buying groceries at Dollar General!

For fuck's sake, really? What does that have to do with anything?!

I'd really like Americans to sit down and shut the fuck up about things they know absolutely fuck-all about. They get so much information from so many conflicting sources that they simply pick the rhetoric that appeals to them and start spouting it off as handed-from-God-fact. I don't know if anyone really studies the candidates and makes an actual educated choice. Does the candidate do more than agree with your religious affinity? What about financially? What is their stance on education, funding the arts, immigration? Does it mesh with your stance? Did Mitt Romney really want to pull funding and put Big Bird out of a job? Is Obama really the antichrist from Kenya?

No to both, likely.

Anyway, I'd like Facebook and Twitter to get back to the general bullshit of kittens, lunches, penis jokes and talk of getting wasted.

With pictures, naturally.

I'm thankful the goddamned elections are over.
For fucks sake, I am THANKFUL!
