A few days ago, Charlie climbed up here and threw things off. Apparently, my cable was one of those things. Along with the bucket of markers, my mouse, my glasses and a coaster.
I'm already having more fun than you.
I just wanted that out there before we continue.
I don't want to overthink my projects. I don't want to even think about them, really.
I just want to do them.
This morning, my goal was to complete something - anything!- before I have to start the new year purge of the house. Today is cleaning out the cabinets in the master bath.
Be jealous. It's okay.
I'll wait.
Feel better?
Cool.
So, in an effort to be simple, I told myself I would walk into the closet and the first thing I saw would be what I would work on.
Don't be fooled. I know where shit is in that closet, and I knew I probably wouldn't look down and left, because that's where my quilting stash is, and
I just opened the door and immediately went right.
AH!
Paint.
The watercolors and pad were right there.
In my desk was a collection of cheap paintbrushes I had picked up on clearance somewhere with the thought that I could use them as detail brushes when I was actually painting rooms!
We have a project.
I wasn't out to actually paint a picture, just play with it a little. I don't think I've used watercolors since I was in gradeschool, and, luckily enough, this is a Crayola set! Just like I had in gradeschool!
Hooray!
What I used:
Crayola watercolors
Watercolor pad
Cheap ass paintbrushes
Drinking glass
Tap water
Here's what we got:
| I was not kidding about using Crayola paints. I have some fancy watercolors in tubes that I will use next time, but for now, the cheap tray of solids worked just peachy! |
All I wanted to do was get paint on paper and a feel for how it would go. I made a huge mess and learned that I need to take more pictures during these projects. The best part?
All completely washable.
| Masterpiece! psh. |
Total project time: less than ten minutes. I feel like I would judge myself if it took longer than that to make this kind of shit.
Seriously.
