Yeah.
Work on that visual.
I'll wait...
All done?
Damn, you're quick.
So, I've been trying to figure out how to explain this job offer without giving away too much information. In doing so this morning, I cut myself shaving. Thanks, guys.
No, really.
I know some of you know exactly who I am. You know my real name, you know my address, and I know at least one of you is knowledgeable about the color of my panties. I appreciate you keeping that to yourself.
My name, that is.
I could care less about the panties. Today they're pink.
You all know I do animal rescue and have for years. It's what I do. Just on a very small scale. Sometimes it doesn't seem so small, but in the grand scheme of things, I assure you it is. The job I've been presented with is, without details, taking over as owner and executive director of a very large sanctuary. Birds, dogs, cats, hoofstock, barnstock and wildlife.
To put it in perspective - this group has a huge cadre of volunteers, grant writers, a large, well-maintained database of continual donors and a board of directors. It is currently located on private land about an hour from me. My first job would be a.)securing a new location - there are already several options on the table for this, and then b.) figuring out the logistics of moving the entire sanctuary - animals, equipment, vehicles and staff to new digs.
Second order of business will be getting an online presence for this thing! I tried to do some research and could find very little information! What kind of group does business without Facebook?
If you're like me, you're wondering how in the blue fuck I ended up with this on my plate. Someone, somewhere dropped my name to this board and they want me. I don't know if it was someone at my old job, I don't know if it was one of the people with the agencies I work with (OldMan has his money on this one) and I don't know why they want me. To be honest, all of the jobs I've had to this point would apply to this position. I could probably do it, and do it well. It's just SO much bigger than anything I've taken on before.
I talked to OldMan about it the same day the call came. I'm not going to lie - I am nine kinds of worked up about this and he's laughing. When I asked why he just told me he thought it was funny I was stressing out because someone is offering me a good job. He thinks I can do it. He's always so supportive that way, the bastard.
I hate him.
I'm going out to meet with the current director next week.
Thoughts?
Anyone?
